David graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Dartmouth College in 2005. He then spent 15 years as a consulting engineer in NYC helping to design and build high performance HVAC systems in wide range of building applications. David earned is Professional Engineering license from New York State in 2011.

David founded HST in May 2020 to develop and commercialize his newly patented HVAC system, Hydronic Shell. The concept emerged from his experience in affordable housing retrofits that exposed him to the immense challenges that sector faces and the need for new technical solutions. Hydronic Shell is a culmination of his expertise in HVAC engineering, modular construction, and building science.

David’s mission is to make new construction faster and more efficient, while enabling deep energy retrofits at industrial scale, helping to move the industry towards its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 while improving the health and well-being of millions of people currently living in substandard housing.

Rajeev has 30+ years experience as an entrepreneur, strategic planner, C-suite consultant, and corporate executive with both deep vertical and wide horizontal experiences. He has expertise and broad experience in domains ranging from financial services to manufacturing, asset servicing, computer industry, renewable energy, field services, joint ventures, treasury management, and franchise management.

Rajeev has led enterprise global teams on corporate finance, digital transformation, global talent management, logistics, process automation, operational optimization, post-merger integration, program and project management, vendor management, and governance for sustainable long-term profitability.

Rajeev’s main focus at HST includes commercialization and monetization, business plan development, strategic partnerships, fundraising, and financial management.

Ben Silverman

Ben Silverman is an architect and engineer based in New York, with over 15 years of experience in high performance building design with a commitment to sustainable innovation. Initially carving a niche in building enclosures, Ben skillfully balanced audacious aesthetics with the critical demands of high performance and energy efficiency. His journey evolved as he founded his own venture, designing and building complex vertical farming facilities with automated agriculture technology. With a focus on being a low cost supplier of high quality products, Ben developed an expertise in design for manufacturing.

At Hydronic Shell Technologies, Ben is the Chief Development Officer, where he merges his extensive expertise in building enclosures with a deep understanding of technology and business growth. He is advancing the commercialization of HST’s novel technology, overseeing manufacturing processes, and engaging with customers. His role is pivotal in ensuring the successful sale and delivery of Hydronic Shell systems, positioning the company at the forefront of decarbonizing and modernizing existing buildings.

Akshay Ramani, PE

Lead Mechanical Engineer

Akshay serves as HST’s Lead Mechanical Engineer, focused on the development and implementation of our core HVAC technology. His role includes ensuring the successful delivery of our turnkey solution through collaboration and coordination with our key partners, including manufacturers, designers, contractors, and customers.

Akshay is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York State. After earning his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania, he moved to New York City where he has spent over 7 years as a consulting engineer. During this time, he honed his skill designing HVAC systems and coordinating MEP systems in a wide variety of residential, institutional, historic preservation and commercial projects in New York and across the US.

Akshay’s passion for innovative solutions led him to Hydronic Shell Technologies as he saw the potential of the technology to not only decarbonize and electrify buildings but also give existing buildings and infrastructure a new life, all while enhancing both occupant comfort and overall quality of life. His talent and experience are now being applied to help solve some of the industry’s most urgent challenges.
